School Meals

Ordering School Meals Through MCAS

Mrs Kate Pullin is our School Cook and she works hard to give our pupils a well-balanced, delicious and healthy school meal.

Our school menu runs on a 3-week rota basis.

Meals are charged at £2.60 for pupils which will include a drink, main meal and pudding.

We require parents/carers to order and pay for their child’s school meals in advance via the My Child at School app. All parents/carers on our system will have an account by default (username is the email we hold on file) and you will simply need to enter our school ID (16060) and postcode (PL15 9SD). You can access the website here at MyChildAtSchool.  You can also access MCAS through your App Store.

All dinner orders must be placed by Sunday evening for the forthcoming week. You can order meals in advance for an entire half term if you wish to. A guide to ordering meals through the MCAS app is attached above.

Children in Key Stage 1 (Reception, years 1 and 2) are entitled to receive free school meals under the Universal Infant Free School Meal scheme (UIFSM).  MCAS is automatically set up so KS1 children will not be charged for their meals.

The cost of meals for children in Key Stage 2 is £2.60 a day. To place lunch orders, there must be sufficient dinner money on your MCAS account. If your KS2 child is entitled to Free School Meals, the app will recognise that you do not need to pay.

All school lunches must be ordered via MCAS regardless of whether they are free or paid for.

Please discuss the daily meal choices with your child. We ask children to select their main meal choice in advance & then the children will be able to pick their sides and pudding on the day.

In the event a chosen meal cannot be served on the day, we will ask your child to choose an alternative. If you are not happy with this arrangement, please notify the office and we will arrange to ring you instead should this situation occur.

Should your child be absent on a day a meal has been ordered, please contact the school office by 9:15am to notify us & ask for the meal to be cancelled and your balance credited.

Free School Meals – Pupil Premium Funding

All children in reception, year 1 and year 2 automatically get universal free school meals.

However, parents and guardians of all children in the school who may qualify (including those in Year R, 1 and 2) are also encouraged to officially apply for free school meals, via the Devon County Council Citizen Portal, as this attracts additional ‘Pupil Premium‘  funding to the school to support their learning.   Pupil Premium money can also be used towards trips and residentials.

If you receive any of the following benefits please register and apply via the Devon County Council Citizen Portal which will result in an instant decision.

  • Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods).

  • Income Support (IS).

  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance (IBJSA).

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (IRESA).

  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit.

  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.

  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, that does not exceed £16,190).

  • Working Tax Credit run-on

If your application is successful, please bring proof to the School Office such as a screenshot or print out of the result.
